Who We Are

ABOUT US

Alliance for Pangolin Conservation Ghana (Pangolin-GH) is a conservation-focused nonprofit dedicated to safeguarding Ghana’s most threatened wildlife and ecosystems.

While pangolins remain our flagship species, our work extends to the protection of other vulnerable species such as elephants, African golden cats, and a wide range of forest and savanna wildlife.

We combine scientific research, community engagement, and field-based conservation actions to address the complex threats facing wildlife— including habitat loss, poaching, illegal wildlife trade, and human–wildlife conflict. Through strong partnerships with local communities, government agencies, research institutions, and global conservation networks, we promote practical solutions that protect biodiversity while also supporting sustainable livelihoods.

From pangolin rescue and monitoring to elephant coexistence initiatives, environmental education, habitat restoration, and species research, Pangolin-Gh is committed to building a future where wildlife thrives alongside empowered communities.

OUR MISSION

To conserve Ghana’s threatened wildlife and their habitats through scientific research, community-driven conservation, and strategic actions that address key threats such as habitat loss, human–wildlife conflict, and illegal wildlife trade

OUR VISION

A Ghana where pangolins, and other threatened wildlife thrive in healthy ecosystems, and where communities are empowered partners in protecting biodiversity for future generations.

OUR STORY

Alliance for Pangolin Conservation Ghana (Pangolin-GH) was established in response to the alarming decline of pangolins and other threatened wildlife across Ghana. What began as a small group of passionate conservationists has grown into a national force for biodiversity protection, scientific research, and community empowerment.

Recognizing that pangolins face immense threats from illegal trade, habitat loss, and limited ecological knowledge, Pangolin-Gh was founded to close this gap and lead conservation action on the ground.

Over time, our focus expanded to include other threatened species such as elephants and the African golden cat, as well as ecosystems including forests, woodlands, and savanna landscapes. Today, we work hand in hand with communities, government agencies, researchers, and global partners to deliver solutions that protect wildlife and support sustainable livelihoods.

CORE GOAL

A Ghana where pangolins, and other threatened wildlife thrive in healthy ecosystems, and where communities are empowered partners in protecting biodiversity for future generations.

CORE VALUES

1. Stewardship

We commit to safeguarding Ghana’s wildlife and ecosystems with responsibility, integrity, and long-term dedication

2. Community Empowerment

We place communities at the center of conservation, valuing traditional knowledge and supporting livelihood solutions that promote coexistence and reduce pressure on wildlife.

WHY PANGOLIN-GH EXISTS

Pangolin-GH exists because Ghana’s wildlife is disappearing at a rapid pace, and local communities — the true custodians of ecosystems — must be empowered to lead conservation solutions. Pangolins, elephants, and African golden cats represent some of the most threatened species in Ghana, facing poaching, habitat loss, and conflict with humans.

We believe conservation is only successful when it is deeply rooted in science, culturally respectful, and community-driven.

Pangolin-GH brings together researchers, conservationists, traditional leaders, and young people to protect wildlife while improving community wellbeing. Our work not only saves species but also strengthens local economies, builds environmental awareness, and supports the sustainable management of natural resources.

We exist to ensure Ghana’s wildlife heritage is not lost — but thrives for generations to come.
