Director of Communication & Public Relations

Francis Asamoah Boafo is a Ghanaian wildlife ecologist and environmental communicator with over seven years of experience translating scientific research into compelling conservation narratives. He serves as the Director of Communication and Public Relations at Alliance for Pangolin Conservation Ghana (Pangolin-Gh), where he leads strategic communication, public engagement, and storytelling to amplify the organisation’s conservation impact.

Francis is a Technician at the Department of Ecotourism and Recreation, University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), and is pursuing an MPhil in Wildlife and Range Management at the Department of Wildlife and Range Management, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Management, which underpins his strong grounding in ecology, conservation science, and sustainable resource use.

With a unique ability to bridge science, policy, and public engagement, Francis works with both local and international conservation organizations, including the IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, the Amphibian Survival Alliance, and the UNCCD Youth Caucus. Through his engagement with the UNCCD Youth Caucus, he contributes to youth-led advocacy on land degradation neutrality, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and sustainable land management, amplifying African youth voices in global environmental policy processes.

Beyond communication, Francis is actively involved in field research and conservation action. His work includes leading habitat restoration initiatives, tracking wildlife species, collecting and managing ecological data, and conducting research to understand the factors influencing species habitat selection and distribution. His field experience strengthens the credibility and relevance of his communication outputs, ensuring they are grounded in real-world conservation challenges.

At Pangolin-GH, Francis leads the organization’s strategic communication, media engagement, storytelling, and public outreach, ensuring that research findings, community actions, and conservation impacts are communicated effectively to diverse audiences—from local communities to international partners and donors. His passion for storytelling, combined with technical ecological expertise and policy-level engagement, makes him a key voice in advancing evidence-based and inclusive conservation in Ghana and beyond.
