Joshua Kwadwo Gmantrim

Community Engagement Officer

Joshua Kwadwo Gmantrim is a dedicated conservation practitioner with strong experience in community engagement, wildlife protection, and human–wildlife conflict mitigation. He serves as the Community Engagement Officer at Alliance for Pangolin Conservation Ghana (Pangolin-GH), where he leads grassroots engagement, conservation education, and collaboration with farming communities and local stakeholders.
Joshua holds a Bachelor of Technology in Ecological Agriculture from Bolgatanga Technical University and a Diploma in General Agriculture from Kwadaso College of Agriculture, Kumasi. His academic background equips him with practical knowledge in sustainable agriculture, ecosystem management, and farmer-focused conservation approaches.

Professionally, Joshua is an experienced Wildlife Officer with the Forestry Commission of Ghana, where he currently serves as the Head of the Wildlife Patrol Team in the Eastern Wildlife Corridor. He has also previously acted as the Eastern Wildlife Corridor Manager for four months, demonstrating leadership in corridor management, patrol coordination, and reporting. His responsibilities include organizing patrols, conducting conservation education in communities and through radio programs, and preparing monthly corridor reports.

Joshua has hands-on experience working under challenging field conditions, providing technical support to farmers affected by crop raiding, and responding to wildlife-related incidents. His career path includes service with the Forestry Commission’s Wildlife Division, National Service with the Department of Food and Agriculture, and earlier agricultural field attachments.

At Pangolin-GH, Joshua plays a critical role in strengthening community trust, promoting coexistence between people and wildlife, and supporting collaborative conservation initiatives. Known for his empathy, strong communication skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to motivate teams, he brings a people-centered approach that enhances the organization’s work to protect pangolins, elephants, and other threatened wildlife species.
